About Me

My candidacy isn't about being slick or flashy. I'm here to solve problems and am ready to get to work.

My name is Yolanda Bejarano and I am running to be the next Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party. As a current Vice Chair of the party, a lifelong organizer, a proud Latina, and a native of rural Arizona, I have the tools to move the Arizona Democratic Party forward and secure more down-ballot victories in the upcoming cycle so we can deliver for working-class families.

Arizona Democrats are coming off a successful 2022 election where we held onto our Senate Seat and elected Democrats as Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General, among others. While this is a notable success, I believe that we must emphasize down-ballot races and take control of the state legislature in 2024.

To do this we must organize in communities across the state to highlight Democratic achievements, invest in down-ballot candidates, and hold Republicans accountable for their dangerous rhetoric. I intend to build on the successful initiatives of past Chairs and the party’s experienced staff, some of whom have been there for years and have vital institutional knowledge, while ensuring the potential of the ADLCC and our coordinated campaign relationships are fully realized.

I pledge to commit to being Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party and will not seek higher office while serving in that capacity, this is something that state committee members are owed and should expect from their chair. I am honored to have the support of several prominent Democratic leaders and elected officials. I hope you will join them in supporting me for party chair at the January 28th State Committee Meeting.

My Platform

My Platform

Arizona Democrats are coming off a successful 2022 election cycle where we held onto our Senate Seat and elected Democrats as Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General, among others.

Moving forward, we have to build on these successes, organizing in communities across the state to highlight Democrats’ successes, invest in down ballot candidates, and hold Republicans accountable. As the current Vice Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party and a lifelong Organizer, I have the tools to move the Arizona Democratic Party forward to tackle this new mission.

Supporting Down Ballot Democrats And Flipping The State Legislature

My organizing plans begin as early as targeted candidate recruitment and stretches all the way through an organized Get Out the Vote effort. Democrats are successful when we invest in and support quality candidates with a compelling message. In 2024, we have to make sure that investment and support reaches candidates for the State House and State Senate, and Congressional candidates. One of our top priorities as a Party has to be winning back these critical majorities, and that work begins now.

As Chair, I will make sure we run candidates in every race and I will focus on enhancing the operations of the ADLCC where necessary so that we can be successful.

Finally, while the party must remain neutral in contested primaries, it is incumbent upon the state party to properly equip all of our candidates with the resources they need to be successful – especially since our primary elections are so late in the season and so close to general elections.

Holding And Expanding Our Federal Seats

President Biden was elected to the White House in 2020 because of Arizona. And to hold the White House, and keep Donald Trump from taking back power, we have to put in the work to keep Democratic control of the White House. That work must also extend to our Senate seat, which National Republicans have already declared is one of their top targets, and to winning back a majority of Arizona’s US House delegation. In 2022, we narrowly lost two seats, and we can win them back in 2024. I also intend to elect a second Democratic U.S. Senator to represent Arizona.
Organizing To Win

When we organize, we can win. And if we’re going to win back the State House and State Senate, win a Congressional majority, and hold our Senate seat and the White House, we have to organize in every county and neighborhood across the state.

That not only means investing in organizing in the odd-numbered year and working to build a lasting organizing infrastructure, but it also means working closely with County and LD parties to support the work they already do every day to persuade and turn out Democratic voters.

I will empower and collaborate with our vital County Chairs to make sure our coordinated partners are working effectively with our party infrastructure.
Fight For Our Shared Values

After winning back many Democratic seats in 2022, we have to highlight the important work Democrats are doing to build an economy that works for people, not corporations, create a humane and fair immigration system, fund an education system that supports every student and values teachers, and restores the right to an abortion. That’s not to mention restoring trust in our elections.

We not only need to highlight this but show voters why they are better served when electing Democrats to every level of office.

Holding Republicans Accountable

Republicans have abandoned the people of Arizona. For years, they have villainized immigrants, ripped away our right to an abortion, given tax handouts to corporations instead of hardworking families, and defunded our education system. They’ve used violent rhetoric and threatened our democracy.

The Arizona Democratic Party has a responsibility to hold them accountable for their dangerous language and extreme agenda.
